2014 - 2020

While working for Ferroconcrete, a branding and design studio, we started LA Downtowner, a monthly print & online storytelling publication featuring restaurants, people and culture of Downtown LA. We ran it for six years and published over 70 issues. I was one of the founding members who helped manage content, social media, freelancers, & facilitate partnerships with Airbnb, MOCA & Goldenvoice.

My favorite moments

Throughout my time running LA Downtowner and interviewing chefs, I learned to appreciate how chefs think, understand the inspiration behind menus, and developed a deeper love of sharing stories that connects people through food. Check out all our issues here.

Every month we featured a Street Style section. Being willing to try new things, I borrowed my brother’s camera and walked around Downtown Los Angeles to photograph stylish people on the streets. Some shooed me away, others politely obliged—here are snaps of the latter.

The Summer of 2020 was a remarkable time, especially for Downtown Los Angeles where it was ground zero for protests. We supported the Black Lives Matter movement and published historical photography captured by our community, plus provided resources that offered relief for businesses, protestors and those affected by Covid-19.
